How do I assemble the Eyelighter 3?
Mount the spine, lock in the four curved tubes, then tension the silver fabric with the two tension rods.
- Loosen the light stand receptacle knob on the support spine.
- Set the spine on the light stand spigot and tighten the knob.
- Loosen the tilter bracket knob, set the tilt you want, and retighten.
- Insert a curved tube's positive-locking button into one of the spine's mounting hubs, then gently rotate the tube until it clicks into place.
- Repeat for the curved tube on the same side, mounting it into the opposite hub.
- With the silver side facing up, thread both mounted tubes into the full-length pocket on the fabric's edge, starting from the middle. Drape the rest of the fabric over the spine.
- Slide the remaining two curved tubes into the pocket on the other edge, again starting from the middle, and lock each into its hub.
- Slide a tension rod through a short pocket at one end of the silver fabric and seat both ends in the receptacles at the tips of the curved tubes. Repeat on the other side. The fabric should now be taut.
- To switch to a white/sunlight surface, attach the White/Sunlight fabric to the silver side with its loop tape.
My curved tube won't seat. What am I doing wrong?
- Each hub receptacle has a small indentation that guides the locking button. Line the button up with it, push the tube in, and rotate gently until you hear a click.
How do I take it down and store it?
Remove the tension rods first, then the curved tubes, then lift the spine off the stand.
- Grip a tension rod and gently lift one end away from the curved bar, then the other end. Slide the rod out of its pocket. Repeat for the second rod.
- Grip a curved tube near the hub, press the release block, and gently pull the tube out of the hub. Slide it out of the fabric pocket. Repeat for the other three tubes.
- Loosen the light stand receptacle knob on the spine and lift the Eyelighter off the stand.
- Roll each fabric separately and pack everything in the travel case.
