How Many People fit Within the X-Drop and X-Drop Pro?Updated 21 days ago

Photographing Portraits

  • When used with an 8' x 8' backdrop, the X-Drop Pro can comfortably fit 3 to 4 adults standing across.
  • The original X-Drop holds 5' x 7' backdrops and can fit 1-2 people.

The X-Drop Pro can provide enough horizontal width (8 feet) to fit about 3-4 adults shoulder-to-shoulder, or possibly 5 if subjects are posed at slight angles or closer together. The 8-foot height gives ample headroom, especially when shooting full-body portraits

Photographing Full Length

  • When photographing full length with the X-Drop Pro, we would recommend photographing with an 8' x 13' backdrop.
  • When photographing full length with the X-Drop original, we would recommend photographing with a 5' x 12' backdrop.

You can also consider two X-Drop Pros side by side using the same background to double your usable width! Be mindful of the center seam, knowing you may have to digitally edit it out, or consider the traditional Background Support System.

Is the X-Drop and X-Drop Pro good for group photos?

  • Yes, when used with an 8' x 8' backdrop, the X-Drop Pro is a great option for small group photos in studio or on-location settings.
  • The original X-Drop original holds 5' x 7' backdrops and is ideal for individual headshots or portraits of a couple.

The X-Drop and X-Drop Pro are designed for portability, and the 8' x 8' backdrops work best for groups of 4 to 5 people. It’s especially popular for family, corporate, and school portraits where uniform framing and background consistency are important. Our wrinkle-resistant backdrop materials and easy setup make it ideal for photographers who need professional results on the go.

How many people can fit seated in an X-Drop and X-Drop Pro?

Depending on chair width and varying human sizes:

  • With the X-Drop Pro, 3 to 4 people can be seated and framed well.
  • With the X-Drop original,1 person or possibly 2 people can fit in front of the backdrop.

When shooting seated group portraits such as family sessions or interviews, and the composition is more vertical, consider staggering rows (some sitting on chairs, some on the floor, or using risers) along with an 8' x 13' backdrop or  5' x 12' backdrop.
