What is Freeze Function?Updated 11 days ago

What does the Freeze function do?

Your FJ strobe system's Freeze option offers the lowest flash duration available, enabling you to precisely catch subjects that move very quickly.

When should I use the Freeze function?

You should use the Freeze function in instances where you need to capture very fast motion like water droplets.
For the best quality of light, try to remove or eliminate any ambient light to minimize light contamination. It ensures that the flash duration is brief enough to effectively "freeze" your subject in motion.

How does the Freeze function affect flash duration and power levels?

The Freeze feature reduces the flash duration to catch subjects moving quickly.
At the lowest power settings, the flash durations are the shortest. Adjust your power settings appropriately to make the most of the Freeze feature and your shooting conditions.

How about the temperature of color?

Although FJ strobes are normally calibrated to deliver precise color temperature readings of 5500K (+/-150) at all power settings, the color temperature is noticeably colder when the Freeze mode is activated. When utilizing the Freeze function, it is advised to select a custom white balance for optimal outcomes.

How do I activate the Freeze function with an FJ-X3 trigger?

Navigate to the trigger’s settings menu by long-pressing the sync/menu button.
Set the Freeze function to ON.
Note: Freeze Function will turn back OFF when the unit is powered off.

How can I identify if the Freeze function is active on my FJ400?

When the Freeze function is active on the FJ400, you will see a "FRE" indicator and a yellow text display indicating the flash duration.
